It looks like EE’s much-hyped 4G network has failed to capture the hearts, minds and 24-month contracts of the nation, with its latest set of financial figures showing that new contracts at the end of 2012 actually fell compared with the previous quarter.
EE’s numbers show that it added 201,000 new users in Q4 of 2012, some 49,000 fewer than it managed to add in the previous quarter. Given that Q4 was when the big 4G launch hit some of our bigger town and cities, that has to be a sign that the network’s controversial pricing is rather at odds with what we’re prepared to pay for better Twitter access in town centres. EE 4g gives patchy expensive coverage, whilst T-Mobile Full Monty plan gives the same network (huge coverage)with unltd everything for £20 a month. It’s a no brainer? Particularly with wifi coverage.
Yeah only no brainers join their FREAK-GEEK-AWAY pricing on the 4G
hence the results. Yeah they wanna make the most money while screwing the switchers for a new tech but you shouldnt hurt them and yell at them “freaks” while trying to screw them.
They thought we are living in the 1st century still
prices are to high to be even considered compared even just to t-mobile (£21) and Virgin mobile (£15)
to bad T-mobile did not Buy Orange out as the price plans would of been singing an diferant tune
EE is just Orange as the prices show that
But even thought i disagree with there prices i am staying with Orange (not EE) as my main phone as i have basic no problem with them and Orange uses Silent Call divert most other operators Tell the person that the call is been diverted most Hang up if they hear that if that happen i not get an missed call on my other phone,
just my next phone is likely to be Sim only for less then £15 or the New blackberry 10 maybe or an windows 8 phone
i have an backup giffgaff (£12) phone (Moto razr maxx) so first phone will not be Android and does not need unlimited internet it needs to be an good business phone that my BB 9870 does fine (as to why i may just stick with this 9870 phone until it dies) , But i May consider an iPhone unlikely thought
Surely Q1 2013 will really be the decider?
Having said that, I hope EE fail miserably with their inflated prices. I’m leaving as soon as I decide on a new handset.
I’m in the UK, EE need to give customers what they want, 12 month plans at a reasonable price with unlimited data!
This pleases me. Rather than tempt new customers to EE with brilliant value deals AND 4G, they decided to just offer laughably poor value tariffs with the promise of a completely new 4G experience and call it a day. It could have been a clean sweep but they were blinded by greed.
With other top-tier telcos hemorrhaging customers to the likes of Tesco and GiffGaff’s Sim-only deals EE would do well to accept that 4G might just be keeping their net adds on the flat-line. Not what they want but there is some solace in that.
What a shock. Their situation will become even worst once Three and the others start offering 4G. Dumb arses, that’s what they are. Should have secured the market share with reasonable pricing and data. I cannot repeat this enough DUMB ARSES!
I’ll second that. DUMB ARSES!
I want unlimited data, better coverage and the price to be reduced before I switch over. Otherwise I’m going to stay with Three, one plan for £36 a month which has great coverage to the places I go at least, unlimited data and DCHSPA+ where my friend gets the same speed as EEs 4G on downloads, though obviously uploads are slow.
I got 24mb down, 3.3 up on Three the other day. Can quite regularly get 10mb down. Definitely staying with three when they roll out 4G, for THE SAME COST!!! Take note EE.
Probably something to do with the silly price…
yeah, probably
Good! Now get that annoying Kevin Bacon ad off my tv forever.
