It’s nearly impossible to use Comic Sans on the internet and not get tarred and feathered. It’s an internet sin of the highest level. A crime against human decency and people’s eyeballs. A parody of a joke of a fool. Universally hated. So… is it possible to defend the font? Is Comic Sans wrongfully reviled? Maybe!
Vsauce, the wonderful folks behind the science of the friend zone and if it’s mathematically possible to run out of new music, tries to defend Comic Sans, arguing that for its purpose, Comic Sans actually succeeded. And though it’s poorly designed on a fundamental level, it still works pretty well when aliased. Maybe it’s not so bad after all.
Hmm. Nope. Still bad. [Vsauce]

Changing Famous Logos to Comic Sans Ruins Every Logo
Turning Every Logo Into Comic Sans Is the Best Worst Idea
A Font Made From Model Railroads is Still Classier than Comic Sans
Comic Sans is the font of champions
Comic Sans is but a joke. I have seen people use it on their CV. If I were an employer and received a CV typed in Comic Sans, I would throw it in the shredder.
I would throw my eyes in the shredder.
A primary school teacher I know says they like to use it because the letter ‘a’ looks like a “handwritten a” rather than a “computer a”, which is better for young children learning to read and write…
Yeah, the guy mentions that the British Dyslexia Association have approved it based on that. I’m betting that they did not rigorously test lots of script fonts though.
Mrs Guppy works in a Primary School and I have all but forced her to adopt alternative script fonts. Sure, it might harm some poor dyslexic kid’s education, but I have a self-righteous glow that follows me around now.
It’s just a font, get over it and move on with your life.
It’s not universally reviled – I like it.
What’s the problem with it? What am I missing?
Comic sans is the very best font our there. It is warm and cuddly and kind. It is easy on the eye and makes every other font look pretentious.
Please please please can I go home now ?
“The devil uses comic sans on his business card”
There’s nothing actually wrong with the font. The problem is the way in which people use it.
