It’s Friday, it’s kind of cold, yet sunny outside, and you sure as hell don’t want to be stuck in work. But if you have to be physically present at your desk, you could do so much worse than playing a whole bunch of Nintendo classics like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Zelda, Bomberman, and Street Fighter, free and right in your browser.
I have no idea how long this has been up, or how long it’s going to last before Nintendo takes offense and shuts Snesbox down, but it works amazingly well. You can even play two-player games across the internet with randomers. My gift to you to get you through a dull Friday. Just don’t let the boss see you, alright? Wouldn’t want you to get cut off the internet on a Friday, otherwise you might have to do some real work. [Snesbox]
Thanks Matt!

A Whole Bunch of Awesome Sega Games Is Your Retro-Gaming-Bonanza Deal of the Day
So, what’s everyone’s favourite SNES game? Having only owned a Mega Drive in the 16-bit era, I never actually played any of the SNES games on the console itself.
Never had a Nintendo but the first game I played was Lion King. The memories.
Wow, you never played the SNES back in the day? You missed out! Favourite game is Super Mario World, even to this day the level design, and content (96 levels!) still holds out. Loved Super Mario Kart, Zelda: LTTP and also Donkey Kong Country as well, real classics.
No friends with a SNES?
Maybe no friends full stop
No, although I did buy an N64 next and not a Dreamcast. Everyone I knew was a Sega fanboy.
I still have a SNES with Super Mario World that I still play, tis brilliant.
What was the game where you were Luigi and you travelled the world possibly capturing photos to free Mario…I played that game for 8 hours straight when I had a single digit age…
Didn’t recall that one myself but apparently it was called Mario is Missing and was an educational spin-off… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_is_missing#Mario_is_Missing.21
Yeah think i rented that, not one of mario’s best moments.
That was it, just saw some SNES screenshots, I lapped that game right up…if I’d have known it was educational I would have been LIVID, well as livid as a 7 year old gets.
Know what you mean, it’s just not right
Probably why I missed it!
Same here – it’s still so satisfying getting all 96 levels compelted
And as I’ve forgotten most of it since I first played it I’m getting that satisfaction all over again!
Love this site, has kept me entertained most lunchtimes for about a year now.
Would be great to have a Mega Drive version of the site for some classic ‘Street Racer’ action.
I want Road Rash! That would be amazing.
There is rumour of a remake, possibly from Criterion games!
Road Rash was *so* good. Great soundtrack too, I seem to recall.
I just loved smashing people off their bikes with the chain. Come to think of it, that thing was pretty damn violent for the 16-bit era.
Megadrive FTW! Many an afternoon at work has been wasted playing Streets of Rage 1,2 and 3.
“Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Zelda, Bomberman, and Street Fighter”
Add in Donkey Kong country and that’s pretty much the only games I played till the N64 was released.
What old consoles do people have then, seeing as people seem to be reminiscing…
I’ve still got a NES, SNES, Megadrive and Mega CD, original Gameboy, PS2 and Xbox (I know the last two aren’t that “old”) and I think somewhere I’ve got an Atari 2600 too. Wish my brother hadn’t got rid of his PC Engine as I’d have nicked that off him if he hadn’t too
