Contrary to reports that Apple is retiring the iPhone forever, 9to5Mac pulled over these Chinese snapshots of what they say is Foxconn assembly line. And on that assembly line — yep, The Next iPhone. Maybe.
The shots, if they are real (and given China’s track record with leaked photos the last time around, probably are) confirm what we already guessed. The iPhone 5S, or whatever name it might take, will just be a faster, stronger iPhone 5. It’s going to be the same size. Really, it’ll probably look the exact same. But the Chinese images show internals that’ve been shifted around, indicating the presence of new parts that couldn’t fit where they used to. So, yes: a faster processor, maybe more memory, maybe some other things!
9to5Mac also notes that the iPhone 5 HD will go back to the vibration motor used in previous models, which was thicker (a strange choice), but also louder (a welcome choice for anyone habitually late to work).
Expect more photos where these came from. When it comes to iPhone leaks, when it rains, it pours. Head over to 9to5Mac for the rest of the shots. [9to5Mac]
Bonus: Grainy photo of Foxconn workers in clean suits sitting around shooting dice or something.

“Maybe some other things!”
Cue 60 posts of pre-release speculation…
You mean that a new iPhone speculation, with the same size and same os look, is not worth it?
If its an iPhone 5s as opposed to a 6 I wont be buying one ! I don’t think that counts as speculation, more of a statement of intent.
That’s not China, look at those guys slacking off. That’s the Springfield nuclear plant. One of them even has yellow hands,
Will they add the innovation that was clearly lacking from the previous two models?
I have a feeling Apple will make the next iPhone waterproof, and pack it full of helium, so it’s lighter and can be used as a buoyancy aid.
I’m left wondering if these incremental ‘S’versions aren’t just Apple keeping Wall Street happy – “Look, we made a new phone”. Not sure customers are clamoring for these small updated versions and if anything, people are usually left totally underwhelmed as Apple provide a slight speed-bump for their phone “range”. And with an iPhone 6 possibly 6 months away, will this do anything to halt the slide of their share price? If anything, a revised iOS with some Ives intervention might help but otherwise it’ll just be more of the same old …
iOS makes needing extra processing power pointless. It already runs everything in the app store a lightning speed so what good is more power. iOS needs a complete redesign to provide the level of functionality Android has before the phones can even begin to use/need that kind of power.
What does this mean?
“Contrary to reports that Apple is retiring the iPhone forever”
The flow line needs line balancing !! Extra time wasted where these workers are not doing anything !! Or maybe just having a break ?? Okay, need to ease up on studying too much.
These look like pictures of the old iphone being made, or someone has changed the ratio of an image of the 4S being made
The interior layout is completely wrong for any of the previous phones.
I’d be willing to be that this is just a production revision of the iPhone 5. There have been reports of the current version being difficult to make, and of Apple reducing orders from supply chains, which they were then cagey about.
That could be because they’re just changing the internal layout and production processes of the existing iPhone model.
At most, I’d expect there might be an ultra-expensive 128GB model coming out.
The source article already said that this was a clone. There are several clues, like the fact that it has a lower capacity battery.
I’ve lost battery performance since updating. I feel that the iPhone 5′s build quality has seriously let it down (faulty lock button for me)
Ha! These are shots of a iPhone ripoff nothing more.
Thats old news now but really Sam, if you compared the production line shots or the internals of the phone they look nothing like the real ones. The internals looked a little slapped together for any iPhone design and the colour and shape of the batter is a dead giveaway.
Each board on an iPhone it covered in a black seal and the larger chips are housed in metal cages. The difference is worlds apart.
