It’s just a more-or-less just a standard PC in a tablet frame, so of course the Surface Pro can probably run OS X — almost any modern X86-based PC can these days. But should you run OS X on the Microsoft Surface Pro? One intrepid hackintosher seemingly decided to give it a whirl.
Now, this could just be a VM running OS X, but the Wi-Fi doesn’t seem to work, which could indicate that this is a hackintosh in progress; a pinch-of-salt job for now. Where there’s a will there’s a way, though, even if neither Ballmer, Gates, nor Jobs would like it. Yes, somebody somewhere is almost guaranteed to be desecrating the Microsoft Surface Pro with OS X (or should it be the other way round?), and you know what? I love it. I see a stylus! Clearly he blew it.
That made me genuinely lol
Am I the only one who doesn’t get the joke?
Get a copy of photoshop, illustrator, and sketchbook on there (and get the touch sensitivity working) and this would be great!
A lot cheaper than a ModBook Pro too.
and a Wacom Cintiq
@ Bhenn – Yeah, putting Photoshop on a Windows tablet with pressure sensitivity is a great idea, but it’s not a new one. I started using an HP tc1100 for this purpose at least 6-7 years ago (currently using an ASUS EP121 with Win8 for the same purpose). I’m sure it’s been possible for at least a decade on old TabletPC hardware…
Pressure sensitivity in Photoshop is pretty much plug-and-play (provided your stylus hardware is decent).
Yeah, I have a Bamboo graphic tablet plugged in to my mac at the mo and love it. So that’s the first thing that jumped out at me when I saw this, probably made the connection because I use OS X but obviously you could install photoshop on windows too
I think the headline should be “The Microsoft Surface Pro Running OS X Must Have Steve Ballmer Turning in His Grave”.
Oh, He isn’t dead yet. Damn!
I think the other Steve would be delighted to see good software run on good hardware.
“I think the other Steve would be delighted to see good software run on good hardware.”
doubt it
Yeah, you are probably right.
