For all the Star Wars news lately, there hasn't been much that affects what action figures we'll be seeing for the next few years. For now? We're getting new recreations of classic outfits from the movies.
The Star Wars Black Series is an effort to pore over reference images from the old films, some still being found, somehow (maybe George took the old albums for a spin before selling everything off), and the result is apparently the most accurate ever renditions of X-Wing Luke, R2D2, Darth Maul (who can disrobe), and the Sand Trooper.
The other especially cool toy is a version of Anakin that is clothed in dark robes, and has Anakin's voice and blue lightsaber, but changes to Vader's voice and red saber when his helmet is put on. And there's also a collection of four Anakins, from each of the three prequels, and then Vader.
There are some updates to the 3.75-inch lines, and a new starfighter, and the Slave 1 with the Hansicle, too. But really, this might be the last chance for a while for the original trilogy to get all the attention from toymakers. So enjoy it while you can.
