HTC is gearing up to announce its new phone later today. We’ve seen numerous leaks and renderings but now, just ahead of the announcement, French site NowhereElse claims to have laid its hands on some press images.
It shows the phone off from all angles — and ties in with everything we’ve seen to date. Codenamed the M7, rumours seem to suggest the new handset will simply be called the HTC One. If this image is legitimate — and it does seem rather that way — then HTC’s offering sure is pretty (if you ignore that damn Beats branding.) Are you excited to hear what HTC has to say later today? look’s great
Looks big.
Looks tantalizing.
Looks sick.
Looks supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Looks like the BB Z10 should have looked.
Dammit, was just about to post this!
Its got a hint of the iPhone 5 too… here come the law suits!
Or actually, just looks like the Z10 does. Back’s horrible though.
This looks higher quality with a not-terrible back.
Centred camera’s creepy
Looks sexy on this and my S3 – more people should do it – symmetry = good. People are just used to the iPhones assymetry.
Hope it has a decent battery life in it. I’ve just bought the HTC One X and the battery drains from the moment you unplug it from the charger. It was 100% at 7am this morning. Now, after sitting on my desk all morning with no use from me, it is at 87%. Last night when I got in from work it was 23% and I needed to make a phone call. It died. I love the phone but this is a deal breaker, even on airplane mode it drains itself! My last HTC Desire HD would last for 3 days with no charge. What the heck.
I’m still holding on to HTC Desire HD just for that one reason: battery lasting for 3 days. I’m yet to see another phone that lasts this long. I’ll buy HTC One if it’s battery is good. Otherwise I don’t see any reason to replace Desire HD as it satisfies all my needs (except it’s little heavy)
My DHD’s battery hardly lasts a day, how do you make yours last 3?
Yeah, I wish I had just held on to the HTC Desire HD. Great solid phone, never had a problem with it.
Looks fake
As with Samsung’s event next month, the edge is on software and it will not be dominated by headline specs.
It seems only very recently the quality of user experience and the ‘emotion’ that brings has taken top priority.
yep, and about time too
Looks like a Z10… which looks like an iPhone 5.
This drives me nuts. I wish these companies would stop the misguided Apple ideation and come up with some wholly original designs.
IF it has a removable battery and removable SD card then it might do ok. If not, then for me it’s thanks for playing HTC. When will manufacturers learn that these are essentials, not options, for so many people.
Can I ask why the SD card is so important to you? I’ve seen loads of people raise the same issue but it’s never been something that I’ve had any need for.
With things like Airdroid it takes minutes to copy files over. I would generally be interested to know what sort of things you use the SD card for that you can’t do by just plugging your phone in, especially when most hand sets have a load of internal memory anyway.
Just curios
Two reasons really, one you can by the cheaper lower memory versions of the phone and then buy aftermarket memory. Second, I tend to copy films at full HD resolution, so It’s nice to have the option of multiple memory cards.
Also I tend to find that these options come together, If the phone has a removable battery, it tends to have removable SD. A removable battery is the real essential for me.
fair enough! Makes sense from a money point of view for lower memory I suppose.
The battery thing is something I never thought I’d need, but having said that it would be nice to be able to pop a new battery in my one x when I get home, as using it for a couple of hours to check email and go on the web and it’s dead by about 8-9pm.
I imagine this will only get worse as they cram faster chips and higher res screens in too, unless the whole graphene battery thing takes off (1 minute charge to full battery life! we can only dream
)
It looks really nice, and if that’s aluminium instead of silver plastic I’m sold! Love my One X but that’s really sexy. Loving the look of the new Sense UI and homescreen widgets (IE ripped off of that windows OS) but should be interesting. Will be interesting to see what the camera is like though, as it’s a bit sh*t on the one X, which considering it was one of the biggest selling points for the phone is a bit of a let down (horrible colour and lighting issues, over and under exposure and all sorts of issues).
At least this one doesn’t come with pogo pins, making you think that there would be accessories that would use them.
Unfortunately, it’ll be like every other HTC, no decent docks/cases/accessory support.
I’ve had a G1, Desire HD and a One X. I won’t be with HTC at renewal unless it’s a Nexus device.
HTC, a company that time after time puts customers down with no update for the Operating System and increasingly makes it harder to ROOT with latest versions of their bootloaders (donwgrade to older version before rooting!)
That, and Blackberry get your lawsuit ready before Apple does!
