The chaps on the original Top Gear sure have done some barmy stuff. From making insane cars, to totally unwarranted (but awesome nonetheless) races, but not even their antics top this. Top Gear Korea was racing a Cobra helicopter with a Corvette when things went seriously, seriously wrong, as this recently-unearthed footage shows.
The Corvette ZR1 just about beat the Cobra, but after one run, the chopper goes for one of those fancy, high-banking turns. Unfortunately it doesn’t go well at all. The whirlybird goes down, blades first. It looks really nasty, but apparently no one was seriously injured in the crash.
It just goes to show that the people racing the cars in marvellous contraptions like jets, choppers, bikes, and snowmobiles really, really want to win. It’s definitely not a pushover when the car wins. Still, best not to put this much commitment in next time. Something tells me the pilot was lucky to escape with his life. [YouTube via Jalopnik]

He “appears” to be white but could be of mixed race and as he’s working (and possibly) living in Korea your comment could be seen as culturally offensive as suicide is still considered an honourable option to accept responsibility (as seen with the suicide of former South Korean president Roh Moo-Hyun)…..
