There can be no denying that designer Guillaume Binard’s “Oceanwings” look slightly ridiculous. But with the promise of letting you fly underwater, they’re a strangely tempting prospect, too.
The idea is that the winged wetsuit lets you glide effortlessly through the water, like a… well, like a fish, we guess. In fact, a video made by Jérôme Espla, below, does a good job of making that look like a reality. But the big question is: would you try it out? [Design Boom]

Haha, Kim Dotcom Wants to Build an Underwater Broadband Pipeline
I totally want to Photoshop that second image onto the bow of the Titanic, Kate Winslet-style.
Yes! Someone needs to make that happen.
Nothing like a quick Photoshop job to end the day…

Fly Kate, fly!
Get your CV out to the Iranians pronto!
This gave me such a laugh; thanks!
I dont think i’d be comfortable or feel safe if i couldn’t put my arms in fron of me to protect my face or push away danger. Though i will say the concept is very interesting and they do seem to be detachable somehow but the video doesn’t show that process.
Likewise. Seems very restricting
Is that a micro penis? I’ve heard of those, not saying I’m hung like a baby’s arm holding an apple (or gay) but sheesh talk about the short straw.
Oh on topic, the suit looks like it needs some type of propulsion system attached to it.
Can’t access the video at work, but is this just for freediving? If not, I’m trying to figure out how you’d get the air tank and buoyancy vest on when your arms are attached to your sides…
So do you flap your arms and legs to move forward? All this guy seems to be doing is gliding but I’m not sure how he’s being propelled
I guess it’d work like a base jumping wing suit if you had diving weights, but I don’t know how good an idea that’d be without an air supply
It all looks a bit undignified to me
