You can never carry too many backup charging cables, and since you probably never leave home without your wallet, the ChargeCard is the perfect accessory for battery-sucking smartphones. It’s only slightly thicker than a credit card, and lets you leech power from any available USB port.
The ChargeCard actually started life as a Kickstarter project, but managed to reach the production stage after raising sufficient funds. And while the microUSB and iPhone 4 dock connector versions are finally shipping, it’s the new iPhone 5 Lightning version that has us most excited. It’s available now for pre-order, and for £18 you can guarantee yourself one come mid-May. [ChargeCard via SlashGear]

I’d rather have a wallet that was a charging station……
So it is just a cable replacement… If it had a small battery in to get you by then it would be interesting, even if it was just enough for 50% charge to get you back to a plug.
True. It’s probably cheaper than Apple’s lightning connector though. I just went to the Apple store to check but they’re busy updating it.
OMG – Apple store being updated! Rumour Klaxon!!!
They’re offering a 15% discount on their twitter page – SAVE15 when entering your payment info. I only found this after I’d pre-ordered one!
I thought this had some power to it – to charge the phones “without a laptop” – thought the usb bit was to charge the chargecard up… not as useful as I first thought. Free international shipping though!
Being a bit of an android fan I have to admit that is pretty cool. Shame they couldn’t squeeze an ultra thin battery in there too to get like 15 minutes charge or something!!
I’d prefer it just being a charging ‘stick’, connector to connector that i can keep in my wallet, no point with all that extra plastic making it a card.
