If you shut your eyes and listen closely, you’ll hear the clop-clop of the inevitable: an iPhone that keeps getting bigger and bigger. And as much as we generally hate phablets, if an iPhone Plus looked like this, we’d melt.
Gizmodo reader Martin Hajek put together these gorgeous renders, which imagine the iPhone Plus as a 4.8-inch wonder that eschews a physical home button for a display that clicks at its bottom — a terrific idea on its own, actually. There’s barely any bezel, allowing for a Biggie Phone that’s virtually nothing but screen and lovely iOS. No clutter, not a stylus to be spied, and seamless aluminium in black or grey. I’ll take the latter, because I’m nostalgic for the old rear end of the original iPhone.
The only work that’d remain is figuring out a means of controlling such a big phone, comfortably, with one hand, or retooling the whole device to make better sense with two mitts. As we’ve agonised over, once you start going beyond four inches, a phone can become hostile to the hand holding it. But if the thing looks like this, we’ll have to make concessions. Maybe. Why always comments about having to use two hands with a large phone/phablet? I see lots of people with smaller phones, including iPhone 4, using two hands to text or email, and especially playing games. I used to use two hands on a Nokia 3210 to write messages quicker. So using two hands on a bigger screen may speed up messages as you have more accuracy on the keys…and make you better on games as less percentage of the screen is covered by your thumbs.
Oh, and no, a giant iPhone does not look stunning. It actually looks like a huge step backwards in design whilst looking like other phones (front is very similar to Galaxy Note without the home button)
Apple will not release anything that looks like the HTC, Blackberry or other assorted android phones that now all look the same.

Just make an iPhone with a decent sized screen in the first place ! a phone with a long narrow screen and a phone with a stupidly oversized screen isn’t exactly hitting the sweet spot.

The article seems to suggest: Large phones are bad unless they’re made by Apple? The renders don’t look very special, it’s like a Galaxy S3 on the front with an ipad back.

I hope they do make a phone with a 4.8″ Screen, Been on Android for about 2 months now and miss iOS, but want a big screen.
Android is quite shitty still, yea it’s almost as smooth as iOS, yes you can customize the shit out of it, but it’s meh, love the hardware but Android is jack of all trades master of none. Nexus 4 with iOS would be cool but obviously not going to happen.
If Apple and Google got together to make a SUPER OS they would eat Windows ALIVE.
Yea I left the Apple camp and got an HTC OneX. After 3 months I was hating android with a passion and bought an iPhone 5 and am loving it again. Android is so buggy. Yea you can customise it like crazy but I don’t have time to spend days setting it up and every time I want to change my email push settings it’s a massive chore. It’s got animated backgrounds….whoopdy doo. The vast majority of android phones on the market are big cheap looking plasticy slabs that start squeaking when you hold them after a few months. If you want an unreliable, over complicated cheap plastic phone with enough customising to waste free time, go android.
Just spent my first weekend on Android, A Sony XPeria. I’m not only fussed on this move to a giant screen, seems too big, there’s no chance I’ll be sticking this on my arm and going running.
Be curious to see where Apple go with this.
