...meaning the forthcoming Galaxy S IV will almost certainly use the same GPU family as found in Apple's newest generation of iPhones and iPads. The GPU in question is the PowerVR SGX544, which we've already seen popping up on endless Galaxy S IV benchmarks.
In a wide-ranging tech piece on its newest mobile GPU, Imagination confirmed that its PowerVR SGX544 GPU is the graphics workhorse utilised by Samsung in partnership with its Exynos 5410 Octa, which we're expecting to see announced as the main processor inside the new phone when Samsung shows off the S IV for the first time tonight.
It's quite a shocking move for Samsung, which has used ARM's GPUs to power its Galaxy S flagship range for some time. However, with some benchmarks also showing an ARM GPU inside some S IV test units, we expect to see Samsung announce two S IV models tonight. Unless it's been playing tricks on the world.
