Photographer Elizabeth Moran has a photo series called ‘The Armory’ that captures what Kink.com porn sets look like without porn stars. It’s not titillating at all. In fact, it’s pretty depressing. Who wants to watch porn shot at these places!
To be honest, if you didn’t know porn was shot at these places, it’d look like really nice pictures of random rooms. But once you’re told porn is shot in these buildings, you kind of come up with imaginary context and fill in the pieces (Oh the actors go there. The lights must be here. And so on). Moran says:
“I like that you know something is off even though it feels familiar. The bedroom kinda looks like my bedroom, the kitchen sorta looks my kitchen. It has a kind of off-putting normalcy.”

Knew (over the internet – not in reality) a guy who worked on the photography – it’s truly fascinating how much effort some of these photographers and directors put in, and some of the porn stars too.
Unfortunately (so I was told) nearly all the big-name porn stars don’t put any effort in, and just go f**k a couple of times a day.
Work work work….
You take what you know about those pics (porn sets)and look at them afresh and they’re quite beautiful.
It’s all about the context innit?
