Apparently the Next-Gen Xbox Will Be Called "Infinity", Or Maybe Not?

So, Microsoft's going to unveil its next Xbox next month. Hopefully we'll actually see a box this time? Anyway, rumour has it that we already know the name of the thing and it's not Xbox 720, or Durango, or NextBox, it'll be called Xbox Infinity. Well, that depends on who you believe, because it could also just be called "Xbox".

The thing is, Forbes has a leaked image of Microsoft's new Xbox branding and it's apparently going the Apple route and calling it just "Xbox" -- no numbers, no modifiers, just plain and simple Xbox. Whether that's a good thing, I'm not sure. I guess people just know it as the Xbox, and if Microsoft doesn't sell them both at the same time, it'll be pretty much a seamless transition. If you don't count the confusion over which game works on which console, that is.

If, however, you're more inclined to believe the whispered words from the likes of Twitter and Reddit, the official name for Microsoft's next console will be "Xbox Infinity", which is at least a step up from 360. The slogans to go with it are a bit nauseating though: "Infinite entertainment. Infinite possibilities".

So, take your pick and believe whichever one you want, or none at all because they might all be talking utter crap. I guess we'll find out on May 21st. [Forbes]
