How Many Strips of Sellotape Do You Need To Lift a Car?

By Andrew Liszewski on at

So you've got yourself a car that needs lifting, and have secured an industrial crane for the job, but did you also remember to get a giant harness for the lift? Probably not. Don't worry, though, as long as you can scrounge a few rolls of sellotape, you're good to go.

Vsauce teamed up with some of the lads from Fast Furious & Funny to see just how much sellotape would be needed to lift a 1,500kg Ford Mondeo. Surprisingly, just 70 strips of tape, although it was of the slightly thicker packing variety, were needed to get it off the ground. So it turns out that duct tape isn't the only member of the adhesive family with remarkable durability, but it's still the ugliest. [YouTube via The Awesomer]
