LG is going to have a more robust plastic display to battle Samsung's alleged plastic OLED Galaxy Note III, with the company planning to launch a device with a flexible OLED display before the end of the year.
LG's Yoon Bu-hyun, who is the company's vice president of its mobile division, made the boast at its recent financial update, claiming it'd have a product featuring a supposedly unbreakable flexible OLED device on sale some time during Q4 of this year.
Of course, in phone terms, the word "flexible" is more likely to mean "slightly curved" as it's unlikely any flexible screen would be accompanied by a flexible case, battery and chipset. So it could be a curved display, wrapping around the chassis, or some other weird-looking, sci-fi novelty nonsense most people are unlikely to be overly excited about. [WSJ via Slashgear]
