Driver Banned After Suffering "Intoxicating Effects of Drum and Bass"

A Bristol van driver has been banned from driving for a year, after police observed him driving erratically through the city. But he wasn't drunk, he was instead seriously getting getting down to some drum and bass while behind the wheel.

Local man Aaron Cogley was watched by cops as he went through a couple of red lights and turned a corner so aggressively that the van rocked on its chassis, leading the police to pull him over. Cogley's simple excuse for driving like a stuntman was that he was "listening to drum and bass and was in a hurry."

His legal defence later claimed the Super Sharp Driver had innocently found himself "carried away because of the intoxicating effects of drum and bass music," but that wasn't enough to get him off. The judge handed Cogley a 12-month ban, £60 fine and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work. [Factmag]
