Rumour: Galaxy Note III Features "Unbreakable" Plastic Display

By Gary Cutlack on at

The next high-end whopper to emerge from Samsung's design labs might have an "unbreakable" plastic display, thanks to its engineers creating a glass-free OLED screen system that ought to survive any number of drops onto various hardy household laminated surfaces.

According to tech specs of this supposed plastic OLED, the display tech is said to be around half the weight and thickness of existing glass layered OLED screens, opening up the possibility of even thinner phones or leaving more room for Samsung to chuck in another handful of cores or a larger battery.

The Galaxy Note III is rumoured to be arriving in Samsung's Q4 spot, where it traditionally launches the Note range, following a public launch at September's IFA European tech event. [SamMobile via Android Community]
