This Chinese Copy-Phone Puts an Awesomely Big Battery in a Regular Body

By Chris Mills on at

Most Chinese Android phones aren't worth a second glance. This one is different. This one has a ridiculously wonderful 5,000mAh battery inside. It wouldn't even matter if it's running Android 3.whatever with a not-even-HD screen. This phone would be amazing.

The device is being made by Shenzhen-based company Ding Xuan. Haven't heard of them? Understandable, since unlike Huawei or ZTE, they only sell their products to the Chinese market. Apparently, their new phone is called 'Rebar' (yeah, like the concrete), and has a 4.5" screen and 5,000mAh battery, inside a normal-sized body.

To put that in perspective, most phones have batteries around the 2,000-2,5000mAh mark. Even the Motorola Razr Maxx, the biggest daddy of long-life smartphones, has a 3,300mAh battery. 5,000mAh is huge. If this rumour is true -- and not just a ploy to raise awareness about yet another shitty Android phone -- then the Rebar might be the first samesy Chinese Android you actually care about.
