Nintendo's not doing so great as a hardware manufacturer. Its Wii U isn't really selling; the old Wii is still selling, but doesn't make much money, and there just aren't that many games actually being made for either console. So, what if Nintendo 'pulled a Sega' and dumped hardware for games? Mario on your phone would be awesome.
Nintendo has enough solid IP from the legions of first-party games it's put out over the years to basically dominate the mobile gaming market -- if only it'd let go of the Wii-lockdown. Would you buy Mario for iOS or Android, or Mario Kart even? How about a touch-enabled Metroid? I'd be all over that. And it seems I'm not alone.
