Microsoft's Got $1bn to Spend on Xbox One Games and Exclusives

While it's big launch event was aimed impressing at the sort of casual gamers who play Angry Birds during the adverts of Britain's Got Talent, Microsoft does have plans to please the hardcore gamers -- and has a $1bn budget to develop new titles and buy up exclusive games for its next-gen console.

Microsoft says its Xbox One will have 15 exclusive titles in its first year on sale, with eight of those being entirely new franchises. Ironically, much of the work on new games for Xbox One will be organised in Europe by Phil Harrison, the former Sony man who's now looking after developer relations for Microsoft. [OXM]
