Samsung Releases Another Budget Android Phone, But Does Anyone Actually Care?

By Chris Mills on at

Striking yet another blow at the heart of anyone who wanted a high-end phone in a reasonably-sized body, Samsung has released the Galaxy Core, a 4.3-inch phone with incredibly mediocre specs for people too poor to afford a Galaxy S4.

The specs read exactly like a flagship phone from two years ago: dual-core 1.2Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, 5 megapixel camera, and horror of horrors, a 480x800 screen. Yes, that's low-res enough that you might actually be able to see the pixels.

There's no word on how much it'll cost when it lands in July, but really, in the post-Nexus-4 era, it would have to be basically free for anyone to buy it.
