We've got Ouya for the home, but what about serious gaming on the go? Nvidia wants to beat Sony and Nintendo at their own game with the Android-powered Tegra 4-packing Shield. But will you really buy it for about £240ish, or the price of a Nexus 4?
Nvidia's put up Shield for pre-order in the US, clocking in at $350. No details have been released for the UK yet, but that puts it at around the £230-250 mark, which is the price of Google's Nexus 4. Now, I'm not saying that the Nexus 4 is as good a gaming machine as Shield will be, but it's a whole lot more useful, and will probably play some of the same games.
So, can Nvidia really revive the hard-core portable gaming market where Sony failed with the Vita? Will you cough up a phone's worth of cash for the Shield once it finally makes it to our shores? It looks awesome, but non-phone portable gaming's dead, right? [Nvidia]
