Given that the Wii U is kinda flopping, you'd think that releasing onto popular smartphone platforms would be an instant goldmine for Nintendo, home of the basically-made-for-mobile-gaming Mario Bros and Pokemon. But it looks like if their CEO has anything to do with it (spoilers: he does), that ain't gonna happen.
The Verge has an interesting feature on the topic. Although Nintendo's CEO acknowledges that a smartphone release would sell gangbusters in the short term, the long-term benefit of using their games to persuade people to buy their hardware has worked for them well. [The Verge]
