LG's sent us a press release packed with capital letters, informing us that its ULTRA HD NANO FULL LED Tru-ULTRA HD IPS TV sets will be hitting the UK. That's 4K resolution packed into in 55-inch and 65-inch models, in normal, lower-case speak.
The two versions of the LG LA9700 both feature LG's own Tru-ULTRA HD Engine that handles both 4K imagery (if you can find any) and upscaling of existing content, while the NANO FULL LED IPS displays are LG's way of making sure black parts of the picture are as black as they can be. Sound is output in 4.1 channel surround, with an onboard subwoofer and retractable sliding central speaker.
Only US prices for the 4K pair have been announced so far, with LG sticking tags of $7,999 (£5,300) on the 65-incher and $6,999 (£4,600) on the 55-inch model. Given LG's aggressive approach to pricing its TVs over here, it'll be interesting to see how those prices translate.
