Master Chief and Halo Arrive to Rescue Microsoft Surface

Microsoft's released yet another new Halo game today, with Halo: Spartan Assault now out on the Windows Store. What's rather exciting is that it's been designed to run on Windows 8, Windows RT and WP8 touch displays, meaning there's now a pretty large reason for Halo nuts to buy themselves a Surface or a Nokia.

If you're the sort of person who gives a toss about the plots of video games, Microsoft says the events of Spartan Assault take place between the Halo 3 and Halo 4 timelines. We suspect that means you battle the usual types of aliens in the usual types of environments, only this time it's all from a top-down perspective.

Halo: Spartan Assault costs £4.99 in our money and is out today for Windows 8 and RT tablets. There's also a Windows Phone 8 version you can pick up here. [Windows Store via Windows Blog]
