More Gs Coming as Ofcom Opens 2G and 3G Spectrum to 4G Networks

By Gary Cutlack on at

Telecom regulator Ofcom has rejigged the rules regarding 4G mobile networks in the UK, opening up more of the existing 2G and 3G spectrum for use with fancy new 4G services.

The change will allow our mobile networks to serve 4G connections on the olderĀ 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2100MHz frequencies, if they want to now or in the future, meaning mobile networks that currently use those bands should have a bit more room to launch 4G services -- and won't have to beg Ofcom permission.
