Sony's DualShock 4 Sensor Light Bar Can't be Turned Off

The little backside sensor on the PS4's new controller that hooks it into Sony's PlayStation Eye camera can't be turned off. So that's one more slightly annoying light source you'll have to worry about reflecting on the screen or bury under a cushion when firing up a film.

The news comes via Sony's Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, who replied with a straightforward "No" when asked by concerned light-hating men if it could be switched off. What's odd about the decision is that Sony, much to the greater internet's joy, won't be requiring PS4 owners to buy, use, or even think about the PlayStation Eye camera, so the associated light on the controller really is quite a pointless feature.

Home cinema enthusiasts, ever looking to track down rogue sources of reflected light, won't be happy. Maybe if they make a big enough deal about it on the internet and cry lots Sony will change its mind? [TVGB via VG247]
