Sorry, Apple, Someone Else Owns the iWatch Trademark in the UK

By Gary Cutlack on at

Apple's been gearing up for its long rumoured smart watch project for some time, although there may be some problem with using the anticipated "iWatch" name in the UK -- someone already owns it.

A company going under the name Probendi Inc currently holds the UK trademark for the iWatch name, which it registered back in 2008 and currently uses to market a product that monitors and sends real-time data across a network. It's like an EYE that WATCHes you, in fact.

It's not exactly a high-profile brand, though, so we'd imagine Apple could secure it by chucking a large amount of its cash pile in Probendi's direction, if it is indeed about to launch an iWatch of its own. [MacWorld]
