The BBC has been forced to apologise for offending a handful of royalists, after a photograph of the Duke of Cambridge was tampered with by sick so-called comedians who drew a crude image of a penis onto his royal head and got BBC's Breakfast show to broadcast it.
The pic appeared in a trailer for a forthcoming interview with a comedy team. Literally two or perhaps even as many as three people noticed and mentioned it on Twitter, which, in this day and age, constitutes a major outrage deserving of endless examination and weeks of tense recriminations.
The BBC explained: "This image was shown fleetingly within a comedy promotional video for Barbershopera, a humorous barbershop group, who were appearing later on in the programme. The material was provided by Barbershopera but we failed to spot the offending material within it. We apologise for this." [Guardian]
