A brewer in Canada has created what is claimed to be an authentic powdered beer concentrate, which just requires water to be added and a bit of carbonation to generate a believable beer-flavoured drink.
Pat's Backcountry Beverages is the developer of the beer sachet. Instead of taking a finished beer and removing the liquid, Pat's people brew it specifically, describing the task like this: "Unlike other concentrate processes, this is not just about making the beer and then 'removing' the water afterwards (which is extremely energy inefficient). Instead, our process (patent pending) allows us to start with almost no water, and carefully control the environment of the fermentation."
To help make it fizzy enough, Pat will also be selling a portable carbonator. The idea being that carrying a carbonator and a load of sachets out to the wild somewhere is much easier than lugging actual bottles and cans, and better for the environment. [Pat's BCB via HuffPo]
