We've seen a load of the single player from various teasers, images, and a trailer from GTA V. Now we get to see what Rockstar's done with GTA's online multiplayer. To say it looks amazing would be an understatement.
The strange thing is, this strictly isn't GTA V. What we're looking at here is GTA Online, where Rockstar's essentially turned GTA into a massive online playground with all sorts of crazy stuff to do. Rob banks, play tennis, even parachute around the city, there's almost seemingly nothing you can't do. It's like Rockstar's just created a balls-out MMORPG for us all to play in.
You can even customise your character, and be a woman, if that's the way you roll, and fight it out or lark around with up to 15 other people wandering about Los Santos simultaneously.
GTA Online won't be available from the off as GTA V lands in your laps, but it'll all be opened up come October 1st for everyone who bought Rockstar's latest, so I guess you'll have worked your way sufficiently through the single player to know what the hell you're doing by then. But as Rockstar has specifically pitched this as a separate entity, a persistent online world you can jump into at any time, I wouldn't be surprised to see GTA Online go further than GTA V and make the jump to the next-gen consoles too.
We'll see how all this plays out, but in the meantime, check out CVG's extensive write up from a good 50-minute GTA Online play-through session the lucky gits managed to get their grubby little mitts on. [Rockstar]
