Rumours have been flying around that LG's been tapped for the next Nexus phone out of Google, and if it's anything like the Nexus 4 before it, it'll basically be the great-looking hardware from the LG G2 just with blazingly-fast stock Android running on top. This is supposedly the back of the Nexus 5, with a removable back cover and all.
Now, we have no way to verify this image just yet despite TechTastic having been on the money before, so take with a mountain of salt, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was accurate. If, and we still don't know for sure, LG has been given the Nexus nod again, then we should see the G2 just without those weird buttons on the back and possibly marginally more rounded edges to a flat frame. The Nexus 4 was essentially an LG Optimus G in Google clothing before it, and it was, and still is, a really fantastic phone.
Given that we loved the hardware of the G2 but thought the software was, well, pretty dire, a naked Android version of the G2 could be absolutely wonderful. Here's hoping it happens, and soon. That Nexus 4 is starting to look a little tired coming into Christmas. [TechTastic via Android Community]
