UK mobile network Three has jiggled its overseas calling plans, introducing something it calls the 'Feel At Home' option. This means full use of your UK contract minutes, texts and mobile data allowance when in one of the seven countries initially covered by the scheme.
From today, the alternative roaming system covers trips to the Republic of Ireland, Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden and Denmark, with Three claiming it'll all kick into place automatically once your phone connects to an exotically-named foreign provider the minute you step off the plane, get off the boat, emerge from the tunnel or wobble deliriously out of door at the end of a 36-hour coach ride.
Also, if you go over your allowance while abroad, there is a "reduced roaming rate" applicable, to lessen the potential for bill shock. Every Three customer, even the PAYG and SIM-only crowd, can use it. Although tethering is a no-no. [Three]
