Virgin Media Joins Sony as PS4 "ISP Partner"

By Gary Cutlack on at

Virgin Media and Sony have signed some sort of blood-buddy pact covering this year's PlayStation 4 launch, with the ISP claiming it's now the "PlayStation 4 UK ISP partner" for Sony in the UK.

Virgin's not giving out any details as to what being an official "ISP partner" of a video games machines actually means for us lot, though, simply saying:

"What does that mean exactly? Well, there’s going to be loads of exciting benefits for our customers but we have to keep the details under wraps for the time being. Watch this space for more details."

Thanks. Great help. Hopefully it might mean something like cheaper fibre packages, or perhaps a lifting of Virgin's bewilderingly complex traffic shaping schemes for PS4 owners, enabling them to buy and download digital copies of PS4 games without crashing into throttling limits. [Virgin]
