Builders refurbishing a house that burnt down in December of 2011 found a cheery little goldfish in the garden pond, which had somehow managed to miraculously survive for 21 months all alone beneath a stack of debris with no light.
The goldfish clearly has some sort of miracle power of regeneration, as an RSPCA spokesman said: "It's quite a surprise that Smokey has survived so long in a covered-over pond with no obvious source of aeration."
The former owners of the house are being contacted in the hope of arranging some sort of emotional reunion. Like, "Surprise! Here's the fish you abandoned out there and left to die." [BBC]
