Gran Turismo series boss Kazunori Yamauchi, never a man knowingly in a hurry about making anything, has suggested he might be able to knock out a PS4 version of his driving game with unusual haste, claiming that Gran Turismo 7 could be ready "...in about a year or two."
The quote comes via Polygon, which sees Yamauchi defending the PS3 and seemingly enjoying the challenge of getting the most from the machine's notoriously complex architecture in making GT6 right now, saying: "The PlayStation 4's large memory size is a unique trait, but in terms of CPU performance, the PS3's Cell chip, while difficult to handle, is really capable. They both have different advantages."
He's also trying to suggest that the push for better graphics isn't everything, adding that it's all about keeping the fans happy with features and support rather than the hardware or OS, saying: "Besides, I think the online community aspect, one of the most fun parts of GT, doesn't have anything to do with the platform."
As for the PS4 version, Yamauchi's full explanation of the inevitable went like this: "The PlayStation 4 game which we'll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect's going to be vital there as well." [Polygon via CVG]
