Sony's Bravia Smart Stick is an Expensive Answer to Chromecast

Reports suggest Sony's about to get in on the Android-powered media streamer scene, with a gadget likely to be called the Bravia Smart Stick set to be announced this week. But with a $150 (£100) price tag, it's going to be quite a tough sell.

According to Variety, the Bravia Smart Stick earns its higher price tag thanks to coming with a dedicated remote, plus having a suite of onboard apps from Sony and access to the Google TV platform means it's considerably more versatile in terms of expansion and plugins than Google's Chromecast dongle.

The big flaw comes from its compatibility weaknesses, with the Stick said to be designed only to work on Sony's 2013 Bravia series TV sets.  [Variety via BBC]
