Forget GTA V or this next-gen console faff: the real future of gaming lies in immersive experiences. Our friends at TechRadar have joined forces with the O2 Gurus to investigate what wearable technology and hi-res displays are going to mean for gamers in the future.
The Oculus Rift headset is one of those rare Kickstarter projects that has the whole world excited. Essentially a stonking hi-res mini-TV strapped to your face, it promises gaming on a whole new level, one where you don't need to travel all the way to a theme park for the rollercoasters to make your stomach lurch.
Some developers are already taking this to a new level -- for example, the Wingsuit Experience, so handsomely demoed by our O2 Gurus, uses a combination of the aforementioned Oculus Rift, fans and an artificial wingsuit to give an experience that's almost painfully authentic. And with technology becoming ever more wearable, there's a decent chance you'll be virtually flying down the street in a few years.
To get the lowdown on gaming tech -- or anything smartphone and tablet related, really -- you can contact an O2 Guru in-store, online or by phone (even if you're not an O2 customer, which is a pretty decent deal). Or, if you're more a fan of home-schooling, then check out O2 Guru TV on YouTube for fun and helpful videos. [O2 Guru TV]
