Samsung's Galaxy Gear Hit by Rumours of Massive Return Rates From Disappointed Buyers

Samsung's Galaxy Gear appears to be receiving the same frosty reception among buyers as other recent attempts at launching smartwatches, with one US chain said to be seeing return and refund requests running at "above 30 per cent" for the gadget.

The stat comes via Geek.com which has what it claims to be a Samsung sales report on the Galaxy Gear generated by tracking sales through retail behemoth Best Buy. Samsung employees have been tasked with finding out whether one-third of buyers are bringing the smartwatch back in disgust or indifference, or perhaps because it doesn't yet work with the Galaxy Ace 2.

Meanwhile, the same doc suggests that several other Samsung models -- the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy S4 Active -- will see Galaxy Gear compatibility added to their forthcoming Android 4.3 upgrades, which should be live within the next month or two. [Geek via Ars]
