Some of you may remember the iStruct robotic ape. It was developed by Germany's DFKI to presumably bring us one step closer to a cyborg version of Planet of the Apes. Well, it's unfortunately advancing faster than we'd feared, and has seemingly condensed millions of years of robo-evolution into just a few seconds and is now able to stand and walk around on just two legs.
So not only can we forget about trying to successfully wage a Terminator-style war in the jungle, these robots will now be able to match us in urban settings as well. Presumably had this video gone on for another minute or so, the iStruct would have evolved a pair of wings too, making it all but unstoppable. [YouTube via IEEE Spectrum]
