At the risk of discouraging attempts by extraterrestrials to make first contact with Earth, the first professional musician to perform in outer space will be Lady Gaga, who has booked a flight on a Virgin Galactic ship.
The 27-year old singer's performance will form part of the Zero G Colony tech festival at Spaceport America in New Mexico, and will mark six months of commercial Virgin Galactic trips. Reportedly, she will have to do "a month of vocal training because of the atmosphere."
This won't be the first time a musician has performed in space, however. Commander Hadfield's cover of Space Oddity took the world by storm earlier this year. But he didn't have silly costumes. Silly costumes will definitely make this a gig to remember. [USWeekly via Mashable]
