Sony Resetting PSN Passwords Ahead of PS4 Launch

By Gerald Lynch on at

PSN users are being made to change their passwords mandatorily —which is, according to Sony, a "purely a precautionary measure" for "routine protection." Something you're not telling us, Sony?

Predominantly affecting US users at the moment, just last week Sony pushed out a similar mandatory password reset for European users. Seems like the company are safe-guarding against anything that could possibly mar Friday's launch of the PlayStation 4 console. The company has been badly burned by hackers before, with members of the Anonymous collective taking the PSN offline for 24 days in the spring of 2011. [Twitter]
