A Staggering 13 Million Tablets Were Sold in the UK During 2013

By Gary Cutlack on at

Consultancy firm Deloitte has issued some stats on the UK tablet scene, claiming that between 12 and 13 million of them were sold in the UK during 2013. This means that nearly half of the entire UK population now owns a tab of some sort, and we really should've bought some shares in Dixons two years ago.

The 12-13 million number represents a 50 per cent increase in tablet sales over 2012, thanks mainly to the rise of budget Android devices offering decent performance, opening up tablet use to kids and allowing PC and laptop owners to buy one as a third redundant spare internet device for checking Twitter in bed when the phone's out of reach.
