You're sitting in a coffee shop sketching the layout of your new flat for your friend. Okay, here's the living room. Sofa and coffee table are here. Chair here. I want to put a smaller chair over here. And then your almost incomprehensible chicken scratch turns into life-sized furniture before your eyes.
Okay, so it doesn't exactly work like that, but Tokyo University of the Arts student Daigo Fukawa was inspired by rough drafts and sketches to create this furniture series called "Rough Sketch Products." At first the pieces actually look like sketches or renders, but they exist and are functional. It's not clear how comfortable it is to sit on the chairs, sofa or stool, but it's a great perception shift. [Spoon & Tamago]
