A Viagra-Less Seven Week Erection Was Caused by a "Hard Bike Crash"

By Gerald Lynch on at

A man has been treated for a painfully-potent erection which lasted seven weeks after being inflicted by a mountain bike crash.

The 22-year old was taken to hospital after the erection failed to relax, with two weeks of special medical treatment needed to deflate the symptoms.

"It was an anxious time for the patient, as it would be for any young man," Dr. Ronan Browne of Dublin's Tallaght Hospital told the Irish Examiner.

The problem was found to be a "high-flow" priapism "with rigid erection", caused by the man slamming into his handlebars at speed. Treatment required the insertion of a "gel foam and four tiny platinum coils at an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein that supplied blood to the man's penis" before the symptoms subsided.

Note that the man didn't go to hospital for five weeks after the condition arose. Best five weeks of his life, no doubt. [Irish Examiner via Gawker]
