Drug Traffickers Post 140kg of Cocaine to Aldi Branch in Banana Shipment Error

By Gary Cutlack on at

Staff working in a Berlin branch of Aldi had a bit of a shock upon opening a crate of bananas, and this time it wasn't a comically enormous meat-eating spider. It was 140kg of cocaine that somehow went to the wrong place.

"A drug gang has made a logistical mistake somewhere," explained local police officer Stefan Redlich, standing proudly alongside the drugs haul that ended up in five separate Aldi delivery depots. The drugs were surrounded by a few bananas for visual effect, and have a street value of around £5m.

Or, if buying it from Aldi, you could get it all for about £3m and spend the balance on weird chocolate. [Metro]
