Pebble Steel Brings Some Sophisticated Style to the Smartwatch Scene

By Gerald Lynch on at

There's only really one smartwatch worth its salt (bow your heads in shame Sony and Samsung) and that's the Pebble. If its Fisher Price toy-like looks have put you off in the past, Pebble has heard your cries and gone back to the drawing board. It's just revealed the super-sleek Pebble Steel, a refined, fashion-conscious revision of its original smartwatch design.

Made of forged and CNC-machined stainless steel, it's smaller and thinner than its predecessor, and still manages to pack in the lovely e-ink screen of the first edition, and retains its 5-7 day battery life too.

Two different styles will be on offer; Brushed Stainless and Black Matte. Each comes with two interchangeable wristbands, one metal, one leather.

It's up for preorder today, costing $249 with free worldwide shipping (no UK-specific retailer pricing yet, but we'd imagine swapping in a £-sign in front of that 249 figure would probably be accurate), with stock sent out on January 28. Pebble and its array of wrist-based apps already had the brains. Now it's got the looks too.
