In news that may make you spit your Earl Grey over the screen: The UK does not top the list of worldwide tea-drinkers. That accolade falls to the Turkish, and the UK comes in at third after after the Ireland in second, as shown by this infographic.
Last week, Quartz published a visualisation of the world's biggest coffee drinkers; now it's time for tea.
Stereotypes might suggest the UK would come top, but that's not quite right. Turkey is the biggest tea-swilling nation, demolishing a monstrous 6.961 (3.1kg) pounds of the stuff every year. Trailing behind are Ireland, consuming 4.831 (2.2kg), and the UK, who put back 4.281 (1.9kg). Perhaps unsurprisingly, the US consumes just 0.5 pounds (200g). The full ranking is down below. [Quartz]
