Robocoin has announced that the first Bitcoin ATMs to be found on US soil will be installed later this month.
The machines––which are to be installed in Seattle and Austin, Texas––will allow users to buy and sell Bitcoin, by swapping the currency for cash or depositing money in exchange for more of the stuff. Accessing Bitcoin held in a virtual wallet on users' smartphones, the machines will also read government-issued identification—like a driver's licence or a passport—to confirm identity.
Robocoin already has an ATM in Vancouver, but this news marks the arrival of the devices in the US. There are plans to roll them out to Asia and Europe in the coming months, too. Will you be using them if one pops up near you? [Reuters]
